The Barrier Recovery Reset

If your skin feels tight, red, or stinging, it is time to hit the pause button and simplify.

When you have gone a bit too hard with the exfoliants or retinoids, your skin enters a state of protest. You cannot fix a compromised barrier by adding more products; you fix it by stripping your routine back to the absolute basics until things settle down. Think of this as a gentle recovery phase for your face.

The Recovery Rules

  • Pause all actives: Stop the acids, retinoids, and scrubs for at least 7-10 days.
  • Gentle cleansing: Use a non-foaming, pH-balanced cleanser that does not leave you feeling stripped.
  • Focus on lipids: Reach for moisturizers rich in ceramides, fatty acids, or squalane to help patch the gaps.
  • Sun protection: Always use a mineral-based sunscreen if chemical filters feel too irritating right now.

Keep it simple. Morning should be a gentle rinse, moisturizer, and SPF. Evening is a mild cleanse and a heavier moisturizer to lock in hydration while you sleep. Give your skin the space to heal without the constant interference of heavy-duty ingredients.

When in doubt, take everything out and let your skin breathe.
