Routine Safety 101
The Slow-Burn Active Strategy
Want to start a new active but scared of the dreaded purge or irritation? Learn how to ease in without ruining your skin barrier.
Adding a new active is like starting a new workout routine. If you go from zero to marathon, you are going to get hurt. The goal is consistency, not intensity.
The Phase-In Method
- Week 1-2: Apply just twice a week at night.
- Week 3-4: Move up to every other night if your skin is calm.
- Monitor: If you notice flaking or stinging, pause and scale back.
Always buffer your active by applying a thin layer of moisturizer before or after your treatment. This helps slow down the absorption rate, which gives your skin time to adjust to the new stimulus without throwing a tantrum.
If your skin starts to sting, stop the active and focus solely on hydration until it calms down.
