The sequence in which you apply your skincare matters because it influences how well each product is absorbed. A simple rule of thumb is to layer from thinnest to thickest.

The Layering Sequence

  • Cleanse: Start with a clean base.
  • Treatments: Apply toners, serums, and actives first.
  • Moisturize: Follow with creams to lock everything in.
  • Protect: SPF should always be the final step in your morning routine.

If you apply a thick, heavy cream before a light serum, the serum cannot penetrate the occlusive layer of the cream. By following this order, you ensure that the most potent ingredients reach the skin while the thicker products provide hydration and protection. Always give each layer a few moments to absorb before moving on to the next.

Always apply products from thinnest to thickest to maximize absorption and effectiveness.
